This protest followed a previous conflict that occurred three weeks ago. Colonel Demeke Zewdu, a representative of the Wolkait Identity Committee, was arrested and was expected to appear in court on August 5. Many people gathered at the courthouse to observe, but a protest erupted when Colonel Demeke was not brought to court as scheduled.
