At least 16 people were reported killed in a clash between the Geri and Borena clans in Moyale Town, as reported by Wazema. Among the victims, 13 belonged to the Borena clan from Oromia, while three were from the Geri clan from Somali. Aid workers operating in the area have indicated that the death toll may rise further as the situation unfolds. The violence has resulted in many people being forced to seek refuge by crossing the Kenyan border.
The exact cause of the conflict has not yet been identified, but it is known that the two clans have had disputes in the past over grazing land.
