Several Killed in Eastern Wollega Conflict

Several individuals, including members of the Oromia police force, were brutally killed and many others wounded in a conflict that took place on November 27, 2018, in Limu woreda, bordering the Benishangul Gumuz region, as reported by Addis Maleda.

According to the report, the exact number of victims and the extent of the damages caused by the conflict are yet to be determined. However, upon the arrival of the deceased bodies in Nekemte, the regional capital, one person was killed in a mob attack.

The report quoted the central committee of the Oromo Democratic Party, which accuses unnamed groups of working against the country’s new reform. The committee stated that this group carried out coordinated and inhumane attacks targeting ethnic Oromos in the Benishangul Gumuz and Somali regional states. Additionally, the same group is said to be inciting violence inside universities.
