Benishangul Gumuz Released 440 People Suspected in Ethnic Violence

Benishangul Gumuz region has released 440 individuals who were in custody on suspicion of involvement in ethnic violence, as reported by The Reporter. The region has been plagued by ethnic attacks in the recent past, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of people and the displacement of hundreds of thousands.

According to The Reporter, which based its reporting on a statement from the Region’s Communications Bureau, the individuals were released with the intention of fostering peace and reconciliation through this goodwill gesture.
