Ethnic clashes resulting in civilian casualties have been reported in various parts of the country, according to the Reporter. The regions of Amhara and Benishangul appear to be witnessing the most severe atrocities.
A clash that initially began between two individuals on public transportation in Metekel has escalated, leading to the loss of numerous civilian lives. In retaliation, individuals from the Gumuz and Shinasha ethnic groups were killed in the Awi Zone of the Amhara region, with many others being displaced.
In a separate incident, one member of the Tigray Soccer team, Walta, was killed and four others were injured in an attack by gunmen in Afar. The team was traveling from Debre Birhan to Tigray when they were ambushed in Gewane, an area prone to conflict between the Afar and Somali regions.
