Armed Men Killed 16 People in Afar

Sixteen civilians were reported to have been killed and 35 others wounded by armed men in Famo Woreda, specifically in Obno kebele near the border of Djibouti, as reported by Addis Standard. Among the victims were three children and four women. The armed men also carried out the killing of several animals and engaged in property vandalism.

According to the report, Kontie Moussa (PhD), the chairman of Afar Region’s Party, stated that the perpetrators consisted of Somali Regional State’s Special Forces and armed individuals in civilian clothing from Djibouti. Nonetheless, Colonel Tesfay Ayalew, the Head of the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff at the Ministry of Defense, refuted these allegations. For further information, click here.
