Hundreds Displaced in Guji Zone, Oromia

Hundreds of people from various kebeles in Seba Boru Woredas of Guji Zone have been compelled to flee their homes due to clashes between armed groups in the area, as reported by Addis Standard. The displaced individuals are currently residing in temporary shelters or seeking refuge with relatives in Darme town, which is located 200km away from the zonal capital Negele.

According to the report, the displaced people are in a dire state, as the intense fighting between the government forces and armed groups has forced them to abandon their homes with nothing. Sadly, these displaced individuals are not receiving sufficient assistance. One woman among the displaced shared that her children are now resorting to begging just to buy bread, while some girls are engaging in hazardous daily labor, including mining, where they face the risk of violence, including sexual assault.
