Security Forces Killed a Dozen Civilians in Oromia

At least seven people were killed, and more than 20 were wounded in a protest against the State of emergency declared by the House of Peoples’ Representatives, as reported by Addis Standard. Most of the victims sustained bullet wounds, and some were severely beaten.

The report shows that a number of cities in Oromia have been rocked by the protests, and among the victims, there were also individuals who were not part of the protest.

According to the report, in Chiro, west Hararghe, where there was no protest, one person was shot and killed by security forces. There were Protests in cities like Ambo, Ginch, Guder, and in Qellem Wollega, with Qellem Wollega being attributed to the deaths of six people.

The protest was followed by boycotts in some cities of Oromia, leading to the closure of businesses, schools, and government offices.
