Two Woldia University Students Were Killed in Campus Violence

Two students were killed and 13 injured in a violent incident that took place inside Woldia University in the Amhara region on Saturday, November 9, 2021, as reported by Addis Standard. The two victims were first-year social science students from the Arsi and Bale Zones of Oromia. Eyewitnesses stated that one student was pushed from a building, while the other was beaten to death.

According to Addis Standard, the regional authorities and university officials have yet to determine the exact cause of the violence. However, the zonal administrator informed the media that the altercation began after a football match.Students who spoke to Addis Standard mentioned that there has been tension between Amhara and Oromo students.
