At least twenty-six militia members from Oromia were killed, and several others were wounded in a clash with armed Amhara men, as reported by Addis Standard. Ato Tadessee Bosset, the administrator of the Minjar Shenkora Woreda in the East Shoa zone of Amhara, informed Addis Standard that on March 29, 2022, heavily armed men from the neighboring Fentale Woreda in Oromia attacked Amorabet kebele, resulting in the killing and injury of several people. Women and children had to be evacuated. According to him, the attack was a deliberate effort to displace communities.
On the other hand, the Fentale Woreda administration claims that a radical Amhara group ambushed the Oromo militias while they were on duty in a place called Qorke.
The report highlights that different administrative bodies from the two regions have provided conflicting accounts of the incidents, blaming “anti-peace” or “radical” groups operating in the other region. The federal government did not comment on the incident. You can read the full report here.
