According to Addis Standard, local authorities have confirmed that more than 20 civilians were killed in Benguz Kebele, Dangur woreda of Benishangul Gumuz. The attack took place on September 25, 2020, at 4:00 am. Authorities stated that they had warned civilians to avoid the area based on intelligence of an imminent attack, but were unaware that displaced residents had returned to their villages.
Less than 10 days ago, several civilians were killed in a week-long attack in Metekel, resulting in the displacement of thousands and damage to properties.
