More than 40 Civilians killed in Horo Guduru, Eastern Oromia

Residents report that the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) has killed an additional seven people and injured three in Jarta Jarte woreda of Horo Guduru on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, as reported by Wazema. The residents believe that there may be more bodies that have not yet been discovered.

OLA has escalated its attacks in Horo Guduru, as just a few days earlier, it killed 29 people in a neighboring village. Fearing another attack, people are fleeing their villages. So far, more than 1,800 people have left their homes.

According to Addis Standard, at least 42 ethnic Amhara civilians have been killed in a series of attacks across different villages in Horo Guduru since March 6, 2021. Ato Getachew Etana, Head of Media and Communication at Oromia Police, has confirmed that 22 victims were from Dabis kebele, and 20 were from Jaret Jargeda Horo Dadi kebele.
