On 8 August 2019, unidentified gunmen killed seven civilians and wounded three in Bordeda town of West Harrarghe zone in Oromia, as reported by The Reporter. The incidents led to the closure of the Dire Dawa, Harrar to Addis Ababa road. In response to the violence, members of the Federal Defense forces were deployed.
According to the Oromia Communication Bureau, state action will be taken against the armed men, and more information will be disclosed in the future.
