Residents of Gura Ferda Woreda, in the Bench Sheko Zone, have expressed their frustrations over the repeated attacks and looting of their properties, as reported by Addis Maleda. According to one resident who spoke with Ethio FM radio, unidentified armed groups are continuously attacking people and looting their cattle.
The head of communications in the zone has confirmed the repeated attacks. He stated that unknown armed groups are involved in cattle raiding, looting weapons, and attacking civilians in the area. The main reason behind these incidents, he explained, is the abundance of arms circulating within the community. He further mentioned that armed men from the neighboring Surma Woreda cross into Gura Ferda to loot cattle. Yesterday, these individuals killed one person and took all of his cattle.
