Addis Maleda interviewed individuals who have been displaced from Gida Ayana and Haro Limo woredas, revealing that they have witnessed loss of life, destruction of properties, and have been forced to leave their homes due to intensifying violence.
According to the report, over 100 people were killed by heavy weapons in Agamsa, located in Haro Limu woreda, resulting in the displacement of thousands. In recent weeks, there have been multiple killings in Anger Guten, Gida Ayana, and Mender Sidist. Witnesses, who preferred to remain anonymous, shared that 15 people tragically lost their lives while attempting to escape the gunmen by jumping into a river.
The report highlights the residents’ belief that the failure of both the federal and regional governments to effectively respond and address the ongoing and brutal attacks by OLA has worsened the situation. They express deep frustration, emphasizing that they have reached a point where they are unable to properly bury the deceased. Furthermore, the displaced individuals express concerns about their safety and lack of security in their current camp.
