Over 270,000 People Displaced from North Wolo

More than 270,000 people have fled from North Wollo to Dessie town as the TPLF extended the war from Tigray to North Wollo in the Amhara Region, as reported by Wazema.

According to the Vice Mayor of Dessie, who was quoted in the story, the majority of the displaced individuals are staying in rented houses or with relatives. However, more than 6,600 people have taken refuge in 12 public schools. The people are in desperate need of food aid. So far, government and non-governmental organizations have provided assistance to 178,000 people.

The report highlights that volunteers and human rights activists have stated that over 400,000 people are still awaiting assistance, and the support provided so far is barely sufficient. On top of that, they report an outbreak of trachoma within the displaced community.
