Two mosques were torched in Este Mekane Selam Town in South Gondar, and two days later, the third mosque was attacked in Andabet Woreda, as reported by Addis Standard. The attacks on the mosques were allegedly triggered by a social media picture depicting St. Mary being desecrated at a wedding.
In another incident, seven Protestant churches in Halaba Kulito, SNNPR, were targeted in retaliation against false social media news claiming that mosques were attacked in Durame.
