Mosques Were Set Ablaze and Businesses attacked in Mota

According to Addis Standard, two mosques were burned down to ashes and another two were heavily damaged in Mota city of East Gojam. The incident occurred on the night of December 20, 2019, when a group of people set the mosques on fire and also damaged Muslim-owned businesses.

The report mentions that the police stated the attack was in response to a fire at an Ethiopian Orthodox church, which had suffered partial fire damage. The cause of the church fire is unknown, but the group believed it was a targeted attack.
